“What does ‘spread light’ mean? Be enlightening…delightful…and most of all, light-hearted…” – The Scylighter
Have you ever wondered if you have what it takes to pursue your dream of being a writer?
Perhaps people have told you that writing is only a “hobby,” and so you’ve denied your dream for years.
Or perhaps you’ve dabbled in writing, only to feel discouraged when you compare yourself to established writers who seem to be doing far better than you.
Yet you can’t quite give up on your dream. You breathe words, you dream stories. You have powerful messages thrumming in your heart, yearning to come out.
You may not know what the future holds, but you DO know that you keep coming back to writing.
And now you can deny it no longer:
Writing is not just a hobby. It’s a calling. It is one of the main reasons you are alive. You have GOT to write.
But write what? And how?
I’ve had the same struggles.
My writing dream was born the day my first grade teacher looked me in the eye and said: “You have a talent for writing.”
But over the years, I lost track of my dream. I listened to the folks who said that writing was only a hobby, not a “serious activity.”
I tried to pursue a more “secure” career in the health sciences — until, ironically, an illness knocked me off my feet and forced me to see that I’d been ignoring my God-given calling and was pursuing something I had no real interest in.
So I started to write.
In less than a year, I wrote a novel, a musical, 60 short stories, 50+ songs and 300+ blog posts, gained over a thousand subscribers, and started to make a living as a ghostwriter and copywriter.
All by embracing my true mission as a writer.
I received emails from readers thanking me for my articles and asking for help with their own projects. I realized that the written word is one of the most powerful forces in this world, communicating ideas that change minds and impact lives.
And I realized that I couldn’t keep this to myself.
That’s why I started this blog: to help talented writers like you who are called to write — writers who want to shed light in dark corners and change people’s lives for the better. Because we can’t do this alone.
